About My Stolen Planet
Filmmaker Farahnaz Sharifi, born during the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, has lived a double life since childhood. Growing up under a strict religious regime, she learns at the age of seven that there is one identity for home and another for the outside world.
In My Stolen Planet (2024), a diary-style documentary, Sharifi reflects on this divided existence, casting not only herself, her family, and friends, but also countless strangers whose lives enter the film through found home videos from Iran.
About There Was One, There Was None (presented by IFFR)
There Was One, There Was None (2026) by Yasmin Shahbahrami explores the friendship between two Iranian girls across time and distance. With its refined colour palette and melancholic tone, the film captures both the longing for connection and the difficulty of sustaining deep bonds through modern technology.
The documentary was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026.
Conversation
Before the screenings, we'll dive into a conversation about strength, hope and solidarity. The talk is hosted by Katayoun, with film maker Yasmin Shahbahrami, Yas and artist Raouf as guests.
Katayoun is a collector, radio host, and DJ based in Amsterdam. With a devotion to Iranian music across regions and decades, her selections invite audiences to discover new sounds while reimagining familiar ones in unexpected ways. She currently hosts the outsider show Sonic Imaginaries on Kiosk Radio and plays at nightlife venues, festivals, and museums.
Listening Session with Yas and Raouf
Yas grew up in Tehran, where she first discovered electronic music through the local scene and her friends. Now based in Rotterdam, she has been building a vinyl collection with a special focus on electronic styles.
