Expect around 10 sjoelbakken (Dutch shuffleboards) spread across OASE's quay. Each board comes with its own twists, obstacles and unexpected challenges, putting a fresh spin on the traditional game.
Never played Sjoelen before? Sjoelen (a.k.a. Dutch Shuffleboard) is a traditional, 19th-century Dutch table game: players slide 30 wooden discs across a long board, aiming to land them in numbered compartments for the highest score. The classic game features specific rules and scoring.
Bring your (grand)parents, your date, your kids and neighbour to challenge them in a sjoel-match, or play solo and challenge yourself.
From 14:00: Step up, test your skills, and earn your official sjoeldiploma if you dare.
From 19:00: The dancefloor heats up with vibrant DJ sets, keeping the energy high until the last beat drops at 23:00.
Gesjoemel is a Rotterdam-based collective of four makers on a mission to reinvent sjoelen. They handcraft every shuffleboard setup, adding fresh twists to keep the game exciting, and bring interactive experiences where everyone’s invited to join in and connect.
