On Saturday 21 March, OASE is one of the locations of RoffaShag 2026: a city-wide dance festival that makes Rotterdam swing. Three parties, three different days.
On this evening, OASE transforms into a dance floor where you can dance late into the night to live music from a big band. The dance of the night is Collegiate Shag: an energetic swing dance performed to fast swing music and early jazz. Collegiate Shag originated in the 1920s and 1930s within Afro-American communities in North and South Carolina and later spread across the United States. The dance is known for its high tempo (185–250 or more beats per minute), playfulness, and strong connection between dance partners. RoffaShag 2026 is organised by Swing in Rhythm and consists of multiple parties and programmes across the city. Come by for a swinging party you won't forget.
