Vooruitlopend op Keti Koti, organiseren Radio Stanvast en OASE een avond over de slavernijgeschiedenis, diaspora, spiritualiteit en de doorwerking hiervan in het heden. Via gesprekken, beeld, muziek en spoken word brengen we verhalen samen die vaak onderbelicht blijven, maar nog steeds voelbaar zijn in het dagelijks leven. Een avond die uitnodigt tot luisteren, reflecteren, verbinden én dansen.

De avond opent met een spoken word performance van Ishfarah Esseboom, gevolgd door twee vertoningen uit de podcastserie van Radio Stanvaste. In deze afleveringen staan verhalen centraal over herinnering, identiteit, veerkracht, spiritualiteit en de betekenis van thuis en gemeenschap.
Tussen de vertoningen door is er ruimte om stil te staan bij wat je hebt gehoord, gedachten uit te wisselen en in gesprek te gaan met andere bezoekers. Na de tweede aflevering verschuift de avond naar een meer informele setting met Caribisch geïnspireerde hapjes, drankjes en een DJ-set. Een avond om te luisteren, te leren, te ontmoeten en samen stil te staan bij verhalen die nog altijd doorwerken in het heden.
In aanloop naar Keti Koti maken we ruimte voor verhalen die het verleden verbinden met het heden. Niet alleen door terug te kijken, maar juist door aandacht te geven aan de ervaringen, herinneringen en perspectieven die vandaag de dag nog steeds voelbaar zijn.
Met podcasts, spoken word, muziek, eten en ontmoeting brengt Stemmen van Herinnering verschillende vormen van storytelling samen. Zo ontstaat ruimte voor reflectie, dialoog en nieuwe perspectieven op thema's die generaties en gemeenschappen met elkaar verbinden.

In deze aflevering spreken we met Krofaya Kromanti een Surinaams-Nederlandse schrijfster, dichter en taalactivist. Ze staat bekend om haar werk in het Sranangtongo en haar inzet om Afro-Surinaamse taal en cultuur levend te houden. In dit gesprek hebben we het over taal, cultuur en identiteit en hoe zij via haar poëzie verbinding maakt met geschiedenis en erfgoed.

Auset verteld over haar persoonlijke ervaring in het bedrijfsleven en hoe gedrag nog meegenomen wordt vanuit de slaventijd.

As part of OASE Invites… Radio Stanvaste takes over OASE for an evening exploring the stories of slavery, diaspora, spirituality and the ways it continues to shape the present. Through podcast screenings, spoken word, music and conversation, Stemmen van herinnering brings together stories that are often overlooked, yet remain deeply woven into everyday life. Expect an evening that blends culture and community in a creative way, with plenty of space for reflection, connection and exchange.
The evening opens with a spoken word performance by Ishfarah Esseboom, setting the tone for two special screenings from Radio Stanvaste's podcast series. Across the two episodes, listeners are invited into conversations about memory, identity, resilience, spirituality and belonging.
Between screenings, there will be space to pause, reflect and share thoughts with fellow visitors. After the second episode, the evening shifts into a more social rhythm with Caribbean-inspired food, drinks, networking and a DJ set. Whether you come to learn, listen, connect or celebrate, expect an atmosphere that is both thoughtful and welcoming.
Taking place in the lead-up to Keti Koti, the evening creates space for stories that connect past and present. Not through history lessons alone, but through lived experiences, artistic expression and collective reflection. By bringing together podcasts, spoken word, food and music, the programme offers multiple ways to engage with themes that continue to resonate across generations and communities.
