A Taste of Vinyl w/ El Javier

What to expect

For this edition of A Taste of Vinyl, host MF Andrade and DJ El Javier take us on a musical journey through his vinyl collection, moving between tropical Caribbean rhythms, cosmic Afro beats, salsa and vintage Latin sounds.

The evening starts as a listening session, with space to settle in, listen closely and discover new sounds together. As the night progresses, the tables can make way for a little more dancing and the Kantine shifts from a listening room to a dance floor.

El Javier will also bring a small snack to share with the audience: a little taste to go with the music.

The programme is part of OASE’s programming around Día de Muertos, celebrating and sharing Mexican culture through music, food and gathering.

About El Javier

El Javier (Javier Bohorquez) is a Rotterdam-based DJ, vinyl collector and musician originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela. His sets move between tropical Caribbean rhythms, cosmic Afro beats, salsa and vintage Latin vinyl.

Javier is a resident at Operator Radio and Radio WORM, where he hosts CREMA Tropical Noise. He  is also part of Rotterdam-based psychedelic tropical band Lola’s Dice.

El Javier has previously played at OASE with La Saramuya Soundsystem and has also taken over the decks during FAROFFA.

The kitchen is open from 17:00 to 20:30. If you’re joining us for the three-course dinner, please arrive by 19:45 at the latest so there’s enough time to enjoy your meal before the listening session starts.

Snacks and desserts remain available throughout the evening.

About A Taste of Vinyl

Each edition, host and OASE programmer MF Andrade invites a guest to share an hour of their favourite vinyl records. Records that hold memories, shape them, or carry cultural meaning. Together with the audience, we listen, reflect and enter into conversation.‍

MF Andrade is also the co-founder of FAROFFA, a Rotterdam-based movement that honours the mix of tastes between Cabo Verde and Brasil. As a DJ and cultural connector, MF Andrade creates evenings where different scenes, generations and stories meet.
