From 4 June, you'll find a new family dish on the menu at the OASE Strandtent. We're kicking things off with Nico and his mother Fatima, who are sharing their family's Feijoada. As June is the month of Festa Junina, one of Brazil's most beloved celebrations, centred around food, music and togetherness, it felt like the perfect moment to bring a taste of Brazil to OASE.

Through A Taste of Home, we invite a different Rotterdammer each month to share a dish that reminds them of home.
For Nico, Feijoada is much more than a meal. It's the smell of garlic, onions and slowly simmered black beans. It's memories of his mum singing along to bossa nova in the kitchen while pots and pans bubble away on the stove. It's comfort, family and feeling at home. Together, Nico and Fatima created a vegetarian version of their family recipe, using oyster mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms to bring the same rich, hearty flavour that makes Feijoada such a classic.

A Taste of Home is about the stories we carry through food. Behind every dish is a memory, a tradition, a family or a place. Each month, someone new from the city will share a recipe that means something to them, turning the Strandtent into a table where Rotterdam's many cultures, backgrounds and stories can meet, one plate at a time.
