New Narratives: In this together

There’s something strange about the way we work. You tap “accept ride”, log in, clock hours, chase ratings. Somewhere between flexibility and survival, work starts to feel… different. What does labour look like today? Who’s in control and who’s just keeping up?

On April 30, we invite you to sit with these questions during a new edition of New Narratives, together with Dispositif and IFFR. At the centre is In This Together by Lisette Olsthoorn, a documentary that revisits real conversations between Uber drivers and the company during protests in Amsterdam, brought back to life through a collective re-enactment.

Worker Day series 

This edition takes place in the context of International Worker Day. Worker Day began with global labour movements demanding fair hours, fair pay and dignity at work. In the Netherlands it often passes quietly, but that’s exactly why it deserves more attention.

At OASE we mark the occasion with a series of programs which includes this New Narratives, a Storytelling Night and a guest chef Radu serving a proper worker meal. More to be announced.

Er is iets vreemds aan hoe we tegenwoordig werken. Je logt in, accepteert een rit, maakt uren, jaagt op ratings. Tussen vrijheid en afhankelijkheid door voelt werk ineens… anders. Hoe ziet arbeid er vandaag uit? Wie bepaalt de regels en wie beweegt ertussen?

Op 30 april duiken we in deze vragen tijdens een nieuwe editie van New Narratives, samen met Dispositif en IFFR. Centraal staat In This Together van Lisette Olsthoorn, een documentaire waarin gesprekken tussen Uber-chauffeurs en het bedrijf opnieuw tot leven worden gebracht via een re-enactment.
